Procedure
- Most of the patients need one liver lobe from a donor.
- This procedure is also known as a Hepatectomy (removal of part of the liver).
- The operation usually takes 6-12 hours and is done under GA.
- The patient is connected to a mechanical ventilator & catheter is also inserted.
- An incision is made across the abdomen to access the liver.
- After separating the liver, blood vessels are clamped and the new liver is installed and blood vessels are attached to it.
- Then the incision is closed and the patient is shifted to ICU.
