What is Shoulder Replacement?
In this procedure, the damaged shoulder joint is replaced with an artificial one made of metal or plastic.
Indications

- Ball is replaced & the socket is covered with a new plastic surface.
- Partial shoulder replacement

Procedure
- This operation will take 2-3 hours.
- The patient will be sedated during the procedure.
- According to the need either only one or two parts or the entire joint is replaced with artificial ones.
Recovery
- Take medicines as prescribed
- Cold compress can be used to reduce swelling
- The patient will have to wear a brace or a sling to give support to the implanted parts.
- Physiotherapy is recommended to improve the working of the new joint.
- Most of the patients recovered within 6 weeks.
